Corruption:
From personal experience ,
The Government Department assigned with responsibility of road maintained in the Jaipur city are somewhat baffled by good quality of the concrete road built using the latest technology.
The life of this particular system is expected to be between 10 to 15 years. This effectively nullifies the Government Officials bribe income i.e. JDA / JMC / PWD which they earn from contractor on the Asphalt repair jobs and re-carpeting of the roads that have to be done twice a year.
The "White Topping" technology demonstration has put a grave threat to the officer's earnings and thus there is a lobby against the technology that ultimately benefits the common man.
I don't know about the Lokpal bill's success, but corruption is so ingrained in our psyche that it will be a miracle to get the society at large, free from it.
Do we i.e. normal of us have the guts to pay the challan , to get a license punched when we do a genuine mistake or we just give this traffic policeman Rs 100 note and say "chor na yaar"
We have to pay(bribe) the JDA officials when we have to start any construction , like it is so normal.
Being corruption free will be abnormal for most of us. The question is are we ready for it?,
Will it be just one mans struggle, or this too shall pass away like a fart and we will be again back to our grumbling self.
I still feel proud to say that I got my driving license properly, by giving test and every thing. But when I went for my brothers license, it took a tout to get me the same. !
The shit is in our face, every time, every moment are we used to it or are we using it, so how the hell can we get rid from it?
India's biggest corporates can get the policies formulated by paying the Governments and the finance ministers on a regular basis.
We have companies having IPO's in power sector without a single plant in place, but all of us got into frenzy of buying the shares . You guys remember this right !!
In Jaipur, prominent builders and developers got the whole flyover wrongly built. Our TAX money was used to build it.
Our TAX revenue was used to make a wrong Flyover, to benefit less then a dozen people.
Nothing happened to the culprits. We have also forgotten hurts to it
So ultimately we the people are responsible for we the people. With our short term memories , I have very little hopes for things to improve.
I am so sad. I was born in this place, in these time, between these people.
Really wish the media, the newspapers, do something about it. Buts alas, in India, loyalty for country is a call girl of the highest payer.
There is so much to do, and so much more can be done. Used to be a proud Indian. Now nothing else matters.
But still hopeful
